Base is 100% hand dyed silk

Felted with 65% merino wool/35% nylon

Accented with various yarns and fibers

12" wide x 82" long

Hand wash cold, drip dry.  No dryer

This scarf is created from silk gauze felted with merino wool to create a light, airy feel...perfect year round.

The merino wool roving used in this scarf comes from Vermont, where it is hand dyed in small batches to ensure its color and maintain its softness. The merino is mixed with a a bit nylon, which gives a little sparkle to the scarf. The variegated shades in this batch reminds me of sea glass, and I used 2 colors of my hand dyed silk to play off those tones. The scarf is accented with coordinating art yarns attached with decorative rayon thread to give a hint of shine. The photos try to show the mix of materials, but it is impossible to do justice to the details...it is even more fascinating in real life! The fibers and silk work together to create a softly puckered texture, which to me is the most intriguing thing about nuno felting.

I've lightly felted on only one side to keep the "floaty" feeling. The scarf has an unfinished, organic edge, and the ends are fringed in the wool and yarn. The scarf measures 12" wide and is 70" long to the end of the silk and 82" long to the end of the fringe, making it versatile enough to wrap around at least twice. Merino is very soft and not itchy against the skin, making it comfortable to wear.

Nuno felting is the process of manipulating wool roving through fabric using soapy water and lots and lots of rubbing and agitation...and lots and lots of time and patience! Each piece takes several hours to create. I consider each piece "art to wear", and no two are alike.

Handwash cold, gently rinse and squeeze out excess water. Hang to dry.

Shipping:

I offer free shipping on all items and will ship within 2 business days; generally I am able to ship within 24 hours.  Items are shipped USPS Priority or First Class Mail with tracking.

Returns and Exchanges:

I consider each item a unique piece of art crafted with care and attention to detail.  Hopefully you will find your purchase even more beautiful than you imagined!  Please know that felting and fiber art is an unpredictable and organic process which I embrace.   Wavy edges and puckers in a silk scarf, for example, are part of the charm of the piece.  I try to show these characteristics in the photographs so that you can appreciated the unique qualities of the piece of wearable art that you purchase!  However, if your item is not as expected, please contact me within 7 days of receipt to discuss an exchange or return. Buyer is responsible for the cost of shipping to return an item for a refund or exchange.

Refunds:

In the case of a refund, the refund will be issued as soon as I receive the item in its original condition, less the original shipping cost.
