Also in this collection

This scarf is created from silk gauze felted with merino wool to create a light, airy feel...perfect year round.

The shades of the merino wool are inspired by the colors of of daybreak, and I hand dyed the silk in an ombre effect to play off those tones. The scarf is accented with coordinating art yarns attached with decorative thread to give a hint of shine. The photos try to show the mix of materials, but it is impossible to do justice to the details...it is even more fascinating in real life! The fibers and silk work together to create a softly puckered texture, which to me is the most intriguing thing about nuno felting.

I've lightly felted on only one side to keep the "floaty" feeling. The scarf has an unfinished, organic edge, and the ends are fringed in the wool and yarn. The scarf measures 14" wide and is 66" long to the end of the silk and 76" long to the end of the fringe, making it versatile enough to wrap around at least twice. The scarf can be worn as a wrap or shawl, and is shown with a posy pin, sold separately. Merino is very soft and not itchy against the skin, making it comfortable to wear.

Nuno felting is the process of manipulating wool roving through fabric using soapy water and lots and lots of rubbing and agitation...and lots and lots of time and patience! I create each piece in my Lancaster, PA studio, and each takes several hours to create. I consider my scarves "art to wear", and no two are alike.

Shipping:

I offer free shipping on all items and will ship within 2 business days; generally I am able to ship within 24 hours.  Items are shipped USPS Priority or First Class Mail with tracking.  PLEASE NOTE:  Orders received between 6/27/2019 and 7/6/2019 will ship out between 7/8 and 7/9 (on vacation!)

Returns and Exchanges:

I consider each item a unique piece of art crafted with care and attention to detail.  Hopefully you will find your purchase even more beautiful than you imagined!  Please know that felting and fiber art is an unpredictable and organic process which I embrace.   Wavy edges and puckers in a silk scarf, for example, are part of the charm of the piece.  I try to show these characteristics in the photographs so that you can appreciated the unique qualities of the piece of wearable art that you purchase!  However, if your item is not as expected, please contact me within 7 days of receipt to discuss an exchange or return. Buyer is responsible for the cost of shipping to return an item for a refund or exchange.

Refunds:

In the case of a refund, the refund will be issued as soon as I receive the item in its original condition, less the original shipping cost.
