Twenty five years ago, Sue Burns of Baabaazuzu blended her graphic design and sewing skills with a "then" novel idea of repurposing fabrics. She began to refashion post-consumer woolens into new wearables and launched the brand Baabaazuzu. The brand has grown to include hats, mittens, scarves, bags and more for women and men, all made from reclaimed woolens. We were Green before Green was cool!
The past 20+ years have been a whirlwind of growth, excitement, challenges and brilliant ideas that have tested my patience, as well as rewarded my efforts. I am grateful for the learning curves that are part of my journey as an artist and entrepreneur.
My mission is to repurpose discarded wool garments into artful design and function, at the highest standard of quality, that continues to resonate with my loyal and discerning buyer.
Lake Leelanau, MI
Baabaazuzu is proudly made in Leelanau County Michigan and worn without boundries. The Leelanau County boasts miles and miles of Lake Michigan shoreline, is populated by many inland lakes and is home to the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes. This is where we work and play!
